The Magellan 1000i is an Omnidirectional Imaging Scanner suited for hands-free or handheld use in "small-counter" retail environments. Unlike similar laser scanners, this new imaging technology has no moving parts making the Magellan 1000i more durable and reliable. This same technology allows hard-to-read or damaged labels to be read more quickly. The Magellan 1000i also has a significant software component that will make adding features like RFID coupling, new barcode symbologies and other enhancements easier in the future. Like all Datalogic Magellan scanners, the Magellan 1000i has multiple interface support built into each scanner that allows a new interface to be used with a simple program parameter change and a cable switch.

New imaging technology provides aggressive
performance in a space saving design
The
Magellan 1000i is designed for "small-counter" retail environments
incorporates several new design wins for the user. Our design
objectives were simple: improve checkout productivity while
protecting the customer’s investment by adding capabilities that
would extend the typical life of the scanner.
We developed a new barcode scanner that is faster
at capturing of hard-to-read labels, has outstanding ergonomics
especially when handheld use is required, and has an excellent price
to value ratio.
The Magellan 1000i will also be very effective at
protecting the user’s investment by potentially extending the useful
life of the scanner. PSC’s new imaging technology has no moving
parts providing excellent reliability and durability. This new
technology also has a significant software component that will make
adding new features and enhancements much easier. Features such as
RFID coupling and new code symbologies can be enabled via software
changes. And, like the entire Magellan family, the Magellan 1000i
has PSC’s multi-interface support built into each scanner that
allows a new interface with a simple program parameter change and a
cable switch.
The Magellan 1000i imaging technology allows users
to scan barcodes in any orientation with either a sweep or a
presentation style of scanning; a first for retail imaging
scanners.
