Intelligent swipe reader for magnetic stripes with optional barcode capability.

The VersaMag both read and decode 3-track mag stripe data. Connecting any undecoded barcode reader to the (optional) port allows the device to decode barcodes. The VersaMag can read credit cards and driver's licenses. Information can be adjusted via either the keyboard or though barcode menus.

ID Tech VersaMag Details

Reads magnetic stripes. The VersaMag reads and decodes up to three tracks of information with a single swipe in either direction. Keyboard and RS-232 interfaces are available. An adjustable beeper and multi-color LED indicator signal a successful read.

Edits and formats data. The VersaMag can be programmed to divide, rearrange, edit, and validate fields of scanned data. In addition, it allows for up to 16 preamble or postamble characters. Windows-based configuration software is included for easy, on-screen programming of "magnetics-only" models with serial interface.

Supports barcode scanning. By attaching an undecoded laser, CCD, wand, or slot scanner to a VersaMag with the optional barcode capability, the same unit can decode scanned barcode data, as well as read and decode magnetic stripe media.

With its combination of magnetic stripe and barcode decoding capabilities, the VersaMag is especially suited for the high- performance demands of point-of-sale environments.
