More Function at a Lower Price than Access Points
The Symbol AP 100 is much leaner and only a fraction of the cost of first generation WLAN access points due to the centralized architecture of the Symbol Wireless Switch System. The AP 100 connects to a centralized processing and switching engine that resides in the Wireless Switch via standard 100BaseT cabling - just as the access point connects to an Ethernet hub or switch. But unlike the access point, features, functionality, security and management are all centralized in the Wireless Switch, effectively allowing the Symbol AP 100 to become a zero configuration device.
