TSC announces update to flagship MX240 Series

Posted June 3, 2016

TSC has introduced its new MX240P, the fastest high-performance industrial label printer on the market designed to handle essential label printing applications around the clock. Our new MX240P thermal transfer printer now boasts speeds of up to 18 inches per second to deliver on-demand labels at the fastest speed in the industry.

The new MX240P Series is an update to the MX240 Series first released in February, 2014. The MX240P features a die-cast aluminum print mechanism housed in a durable, yet lightweight chassis that is built to handle heavy-duty demand cycles typically seen in manufacturing, logistics, shipping and product-identification applications. MX240P Series will be available worldwide starting in May, 2016.

3 Upgradeable models for every application
The MX240P Series is available in three models: the MX240P, MX340P and MX640P. The MX240P prints at 203 dpi at speeds up to 18 inches per second, while the MX340P offers 300 dpi resolution at speeds up to 14 inches per second. The MX640P prints at a sharp 600 dpi resolution, making it ideal for producing fine print, graphics, small 2D barcodes and other ultra-high-resolution images.

Your Investment is Protected with Automatic Recognition Firmware
If your labelling needs for your printer change, simply swap out the printhead for a different resolution and the printer’s firmware will recognize and automatically adjust to print at 203, 300 or 600 dpi resolutions.

Top-of-the-line speed, loads of standard features
Equipped with a 536 MHz processor, our fastest ever, the MX240P boosts productivity with high-speed communications and ultra-fast printing speeds. The printer comes loaded with standard features, including a 4.3″ color touch display featuring a new GUI design with six menu buttons, 600-meter ribbons and 8-inch outside-diameter media rolls for high-volume printing, built-in Ethernet, two USB hosts for keyboard and scanner connections, and USB 2.0 and serial interfaces.

PrintKit App from Infinite Peripherals Expedites Mobile Printing of Barcode Labels

Posted May 24, 2016

The new PrintKit app from Infinite Peripherals expedites mobile printing of 1D or 2D barcode and QR code labels to maximize convenience and increase efficiency. Working with IPC’s popular DPP-255 and DPP-450 mobile printers, the free app can be downloaded to any iOS device to create custom labels or replicate existing labels.

“As part of our commitment to delivering complete solutions, we developed PrintKit to give our customers a convenient, ‘out-of-the-box’ tool to print labels quickly and easily,” said Jeffrey Scott, CEO of IPC. “Now, enterprises in a variety of industries no longer have to dedicate resources to developing their own app.”

Available at the iTunes App Store, PrintKit is simple to use. Customers enter the size of the label, scan the barcode of an existing label to replicate it, or generate a unique 1D or 2D barcode or QR code within the app. A custom text field houses additional information if necessary. Once the label is ready, it can be printed immediately with the touch of a button.

PrintKit is compatible with IPC’s mobile peripheral units, such as the Linea Pro and Infinea Tab, which add a barcode scanner to the iPod touch and iPhone, or the iPad, respectively. The app boosts efficiency and streamlines operations in multiple industries, including retail, warehousing, logistics, transportation, ticketing and supply chain.

IoT Pioneer Zebra Shares Vision for the Next Wave of Industrial Age

Posted May 23, 2016

Eighteen months after its acquisition of Motorola Solutions Enterprise business, Zebra today shares its vision for the company moving forward within a growing industry category, Enterprise Asset Intelligence (EAI). By providing “Visibility that’s Visionary,” Zebra increases businesses’ ability to track critical assets within their operations and know exactly what they are, where they are and their condition so they can make smarter, faster decisions that improve their bottom line.

For more than 40 years, Zebra has developed the building blocks of today’s Internet of Things (IoT) technology with its global leadership in the Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) market including sensors, barcodes, RFID and wireless networks. The arrival of the cloud and the ubiquity of wireless networks have made connecting devices and mining their data much easier, and the IoT is bringing us into a new industrial age in which the line between the physical and digital is blurring.

The evolution of the AIDC market to a more strategically oriented EAI focus is being driven by technology trends: IoT, cloud-based data analytics and mobility. Zebra is leading this evolution through its operational framework of “sense, analyze, and act.” Its solutions automatically “sense” information from enterprise assets, such as packages moving through a supply chain, equipment in a factory, workers in a warehouse, and shoppers in a store. Operational data from these assets, including status, location, utilization, or preferences, is then “analyzed” to provide actionable insights. These insights can then be mobilized to the right person at the right time so they can be “acted” upon to drive better, more timely decisions by users anywhere at any time. Today, 95 percent of Fortune 500 companies benefit from this framework using Zebra’s solutions in retail, manufacturing, transportation and logistics (T&L), and healthcare.

Optimizing On-Site Card Production with Zebra’s New ZXP Series 7 Pro

Posted April 22, 2016

Zebra has expanded and improved on their existing ZXP Series 7 printers with the new ZXP Series 7 Pro to meet today’s increasing need for service bureaus and governments to quickly set up and issue secure, reliable forms of identification while improving the efficiency and speed of large print jobs.

Specifically designed to meet the needs of high volume printing applications. the ZXp Series 7 Pro has the feature set made for performance.

Larger capacity input and output hoppers – With high-capacity input and output hoppers holding up to 250 plastic cards, users can produce larger batches without the need for constant staff oversight.

First in, first out (FIFO) card sequence – As cards are produced, they are ordered in a first-in, first-out sequence in the new stacking output hopper. This coordination eliminates the need for sorting cards once the print job is completed.

Easy loading of synchronized supplies  – Users can quickly and easily reload supplies and collect finished cards via the removable input and output hoppers. And, the high-capacity hoppers are perfectly synchronized with Zebra’s high-capacity ribbons. With 750 images per ribbon roll, users can print three full batches of cards before needing to change ribbon. This results in additional savings in operator time and fewer production interruptions.

Reliable performance and photo-quality printing – Like the ZXP Series 7, this new Pro version delivers the same fast yet reliable performance and prints sharp, vivid cards with photo-quality images. With the included magnetic encoder, service bureaus are ensured reliable printing and encoding operations. Available with optional features like single- or dual-sided laminating, smart card encoding, connectivity options, and locking mechanisms for security, the ZXP Series 7 Pro is flexible to meet business needs now and in the future.

Zebra’s FX7500 and AN480 Help Danish Hospital Improve Quality of Care

Posted April 20, 2016

Zebra FX7500 RFID ReadersZebra has announced that Det Nye Universitetshospital has selected its RFID technology for a pilot conducted at Åarhus University Hospital (AUH). The solution is designed to improve operational visibility, staff productivity and quality of patient care. It includes Zebra FX7500 fixed RFID and AN480 RFID antennas which are used to track equipment, medication and staff throughout the hospital.

Constructed to extend the existing Åarhus hospital, the new AUH is one of several ‘super’ hospitals being built in Denmark. When the construction is complete, AUH will be the largest hospital in Northern Europe with 9,500 employees and 4,000 patient visits daily. The RFID system tracks 20 different RFID tagged assets – from hospital personnel with staff name tags embedded with RFID to wheelchairs, beds and medical equipment to labels used on patient specimen samples. Staff can now quickly track and locate these assets through a map on their mobile devices to optimize workflows, increase accuracy and improve patient care.

The RFID solution provides AUH with a real-time, accurate and fail-safe view of its resources from staff to equipment. Staff will spend less time looking for equipment, nurses and doctors are more easily located and moved to where they are needed, and patient samples are tracked in real time to avoid errors.

“We now have a reliable, high-performance system in place, which allows our staff to locate our resources quickly and accurately. The feedback from our staff has been very positive, and we’re looking forward to exploring many more uses of the RFID system.” – Lars G. Knudsen, chief information officer, Det Nye Universitetshospital
