Aerohive AP250 and AP245X 802.11ac Wave 2 Wireless Access Point

Posted April 3, 2017

Aerohive AP245X Access PointsAs WLAN capacity requirements soar, the AP250 and AP245X are excellent choices to provide instant adaption to ever-changing capacity needs. New high-performance mobile devices and demanding applications continue to change how connected enterprises do business. With a constantly changing client landscape and new Internet of Things (IoT) devices on the horizon, enterprises are challenged to have network infrastructure for the clients and devices of today while anticipating the connectivity needs of the future.

To address escalating connectivity demands today, Aerohive introduced the AP250 and the AP245X, two new cloud-managed 802.11ac Wave 2 access points that are the first to deliver enterprise-class capabilities and uncompromised wireless functionality while operating on existing standard wired infrastructure of 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE). The access points also feature integrated Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Both the AP250 and the AP245X are built on Aerohive’s proven RF-IQ technology to deliver great Wi-Fi. RF-IQ incorporates distributed control radio intelligence, such as automated channel and power selection, load balancing, band steering, and other capabilities that enable complex radio functionality.

The AP250 is the only Wave 2 and BLE solution that can operate in dual 5GHz mode with uncompromised performance for increased capacity, without PoE switch upgrades. Aerohive’s patent-pending RF-IQ antenna and the first-of-its-kind network technology provide polarization and spatial diversity which ensures performance even in dual 5GHz mode, delivering uncompromised performance under 802.3af power budget.

The AP245X delivers Wave 2 with external antennas and a rugged design for challenging environments, such as warehouses, manufacturing floors, and extreme temperature environments. Both the AP250 and the AP245X access points feature integrated BLE and a USB port to enhance location-driven services and provide additional wireless connectivity options for IoT and other devices.

Jacksonville State University Chooses Zebra to Overhaul Campus-Wide Wireless Network

Posted February 12, 2016

Zebra has announced that Jacksonville State University (JSU) has deployed a Zebra Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) for campus-wide Wi-Fi connectivity for faculty, students and visitors. The university decided to overhaul its aging Wi-Fi infrastructure in response to increased demand for Internet connectivity. After a multi-vendor assessment, JSU chose a Zebra 802.11ac WLAN to support their current and future wireless needs.

JSU required a high-performance WLAN as classroom assignments are incorporating smartphone apps while tablets and phablets are replacing the binder and composition notebook. In addition, most students are using at least three Internet-connected devices during the typical campus day and maybe more at night in dorms. With such specific needs, JSU sought a vendor that could provide a strong suite of solutions in one portfolio and chose Zebra’s latest 802.11ac WLAN – including NX7500 controllers, AP7502, AP7522 and AP7532 access points – to ensure reliable high-speed Internet access across the 459-acre campus.

The university now offers connectivity for heavy bandwidth applications anytime and everywhere, from the parking lot, campus buildings and housing units to student lounges, eateries, libraries, athletic facilities and even the dorm laundromat. Zebra provided a cost-efficient solution that is easy for JSU’s IT staff to manage. Previously, JSU had a multi-vendor wireless architecture that had become more complex and less interoperable, while failing to provide the level of connectivity needed to keep up with mobile device adoption.
